Rotterdam - 12/09

Keith Messingschlager visited us from Traverse City for about 5 nights.

Around the Kralingse Plas.

FAT city pigeon!

A postcard picture location I found while taking a little excursion on my own ... cute, eh?

Fez, Morocco - Africa - 11/09

A carpet-maker (foreground) and our 'guide' who was a distant relative of the carpet man.
Some of the carpets ... he wanted us to take a photo of he and I ... (sigh)

Glad I know he's a friendly guy ... could be kinda scary, otherwise ...

Fez, Morocco - Africa - 11/09

Groovy doors to the palace (?) in Fez ... or some governmental building ... not a mosque.
Observing the kingdom ...

Sacks of wool.

Medina at Old Fez - 11/09

Otto 'drinking' at the public fountain!
The Medina!
Homemade charcoal.

Scenes from the Medina - Fez - 11/09

The view from where we ate lunch.
... and again.
Moroccan mint tea! Ultra yummy! Lots of sugar!!!

Where the sovereign go when they are in town.

Wandering around Fez - 11/09

Incognito ... it's amazing how much cooler I stayed with my head covered!

A view of Fez from another hillside.

A 'Ruin' at Fez - 11/09

Otto is looking down at the part of the Medina where we were staying in Old Fez.
A view of the ruins ...
This was how we got in and out ...
Looks like he's holding the wall up with his back! No no, just passing through.
Life amongst the dry sand ...

The ruins of Fez - 11/09

This entrance (?) was how I passed through to the other side of the wall ... it's about 3' high.
A view from below.
Me ... above! "Welcome to Earth!"
Contemplation ... sometimes puts things into perspective.
One of those 'perspectives' ...

Fez - 11/09 - outside the Medina

No fence or railing stands in the way of Otto's determination to see what lies beyond ...!
This is the place I wanted to get to ...
"A'vast me hearties, yo ho!" It was probably in the mid-80's out here in the sun but inside the Medina it can be on the coolish side (hence the jacket) ... however, the jacket stayed on for protection from the sun.
One step closer to this old 'place' ... fort, city wall, ???
I am now standing on top of one of the ruin walls looking down at Otto who was exploring the perimeter.

Leaving the Medina for a look outside ...

A donkey laden with sheep skins. They have the 'right of way'.
Walking away from the door to the Pension Sekaya (where we stayed in the Medina).
What the walls look like ... seems unstable, but they've been there for centuries!
A typical 'thoroughfare'.
