Entering Belgium. All of the text on this sign is indicating 'where' in the country you are: the village of Weelde - which is a part of the city of Antwerpen - which is in the province of Vlaanderen - which is in Belgium. The '70' with the red circle around it is the speed limit sign ... in kilometers/hr. We stopped in this town to get some CASH! It's blurry (I know) but, I like it anyway. We found this remote place to camp for the night after it had become dark. It is a legitimate road. It just ended real soon ... in a field. We figured if a farmer started his tractor work early we'd just leave - hence we turned the camper (the Full Dragon - so named because that is what I thought Otto was saying when he said 'volkswagon') around. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! It wuzzzzzzzzzzzzz chillllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyy. Maybe about 42 degrees. First thing we did was make tea - it helped warm up the interior of the camper and, of course, our bodies. Helloooooooooooooooooo!!!
The 'Full Dragon' in the mist ... in the midst of a turnip field. Coffee and squeegie in hand. At this point we were wondering what we would see when the fog dissipated. We were surprised to see a farmhouse so close to where we parked ... pretty though.
Otto riding his bike. This was back in September. We went for a ride in the park and then grabbed some groceries. I .... was riding a bike, too! I kind of like it! Otto's mom has lent me one of her 2 bicycles. GASP!!! Even the river/canals have signal lights !!! Photographing at the children's zoo at the Kralingse Plas (my favorite park in Rotterdam).
A lot of major oil companies have mega set-ups in Rotterdam (largest port in the WORLD!). So there are miles of this sort of 'landscape' along the river between the city and the port. One of the many tunnels that run under the river. This is a levee and dike system that was erected in the North Sea to protect Rotterdam and the surrounding areas from experiencing the super major flooding they had back in 1953. It's quite amazing to see. Holding tanks. more ...
