A lot of major oil companies have mega set-ups in Rotterdam (largest port in the WORLD!). So there are miles of this sort of 'landscape' along the river between the city and the port.

This is a levee and dike system that was erected in the North Sea to protect Rotterdam and the surrounding areas from experiencing the super major flooding they had back in 1953. It's quite amazing to see.
