Our domicile in Rotterdam

The kitchen which has a backdoor that leads to the garden. The cupboards came from IKEA (one of Lydia's favorite stores). The stove is fabulously top notch! 6 burners, large oven, gas control, and my favorite color combination for kitchen appliances - chrome and black! This room is sized for Otto who is, I believe, about 6'5". The counter heights are set to be comfortable for him so it is a little bit of an adjustment for me, but not a large one. Otto does a lot of the cooking so I'm happy that the room is comfortable for him. The fridge unit is in the kitchen and the freezer unit is in the storage room in the basement. Before I moved in he had a smaller fridge with a freezer attached. I had made a comment, while we were Skyping, about being shocked at it's size. I just couldn't believe someone could 'do' with something that little. Since then I have discovered that he goes to the store about every other day (there is one only 1 block away) and is therefore buying only what he needs for a couple of days. A little fridge was quite sufficient. However, during a conversation with a colleague at work, he encountered an opportunity to get a used unit as that fellow was remodeling and upgrading his kitchen. The 'new' pieces were in place when I arrived here. They are quite nice and very spacious.
Living room - window looks out into the garden; kitchen is located on the other side of the wall that the mirror is hanging on; the bundle of cloth hanging on the wall is one of the two hammocks that can be strung up in the room on either side of the couch.
The other side of the living room. Otto and his dad built the fireplace. 3 of Ot's surfboards.
View from the Dining Room into the Living Room. There are leaded glass sliding doors that separate the two rooms.
Other side of the Dining/Office Room. These windows face East and the street that our apartment is on.
