Playa Cocles (near Puerto Viejo)

Otto going out for his first surf session at this location. The waves were small, but still a lot of fun. Ot spent some time teaching me about reading the currents in the water and a little bit about what to expect from them, how to handle getting caught in the rip tide, and how to begin body surfing...then I played in the salty waves. On this whole trip I think I was in the water as much as he was. It was wonderful! It was also great to have some cloudy weather to keep the potential for sun burning 'at bay'. After being in the ocean we'd walk across the street to 'The Totem' for some toast and cappuccinos.
We stayed at an acquaintance's home in Playa Cocles. Heinz is the only Doctor in the area. He has an office at his home, makes house calls, and travels to many clinics during the week. He's a very busy man and quite passionate about his work. He is originally from Argentina and his wife, Natasha, is from San Jose.

The view out one of the windows in the 'living' room where we slept.

Julian, Heinz & Natasha's son, getting more familiar with Otto on the patio that surrounds the house.

The gateway for the yard. We stayed here for 3 nights (I think-or maybe it was 4) and then it was time to move on ...
